Christina Milian knows how to ensure she can indulge in some of her favourite foods - hit the beach first. The AM to PM singer hit the beach in Miami, Florida early Friday before heading off to grab some Italian for lunch in South Beach.

A new hairstyle made the 31-year-old almost unrecognisable as she went for a beach run.

The singer has had long braided extensions put in which come down to her waist.

Obviously quite heavy, The Voice's social media host tied her long braids back as she hit the sand.

Running barefoot, Christina showed off her curvacious figure donning three quarter leggings, a blue Nike tank, a green sweater around her waist and a red and black cap by skateboarding brand Huff.

With her eye on the prize, the mother-of-one ran hard along the shoreline.

The singer was not impressed with having to exercise in front of a packed Miami beach or with photographers looking on.

'This beach is crowded.. Damn,' Christina tweeted.

'I see you paparazzi. Thank goodness they only caught the end of my #fitfreshfly #workout.'

A very different looking Christina emerged just a few hours later.

Looking like she was about to film a hip hop video, Christina and a friend headed to lunch at Italian restaurant Mia Bella Roma.

With her long braids flowing down her back, the singer wore a figure flashing - albeit fashionably questionable - look of light blue distressed jeans, a tan tank with a gun holster-inspired leather waist belt.

The singer accessorised her look with large gold hoop earrings, a black handbag and some seriously high boots.

Christina had already heaped praise on the studded camouflage print faux fur stiletto boots on her Twitter after the designer sent her the pair.

'Love these boots #zigigirl sent me.. Gracias,' she tweeted on Friday.

Christina is in Miami recording new songs and doing promotional events at some of Miami's nightclubs.

Christina is back in the studio after signing with Lil Wayne's label YMCMB last year.

The singer was very publicly dumped from Def Jam Records after splitting with one of its executives, producer The-Dream.

The pair - who have one child together Violet - were divorced in 2011 after it was revealed the producer had an affair.

'I tried to be someone I wasn't because I wanted my marriage to work but ultimately, if it's not working, it's not working,' Christina said following her divorce to Latina magazine. 

'I didn't know anything, but looking back, my gut was telling me something was off. But I thought I could fix it.

'I've been to hell and back, but I survived.'
